Softball Recap: Haverling Rams vs. Sacred Heart Academy Sharks
Haverling proved they can win big last Friday (they won by seven) but on Sunday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Sacred Heart Academy Sharks 3-1.
Kaili Witherell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits (and only one walk). Witherell was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Caydence Spears was excellent, going 2-for-2 with two RBI and a double.
On Sacred Heart Academy's side, Emma Grace Popp spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Sacred Heart Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alli Morgante, who went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
Haverling's victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
