Softball Game Preview: Rockdale Tigers vs. C.H. Yoe Yoemen

Rockdale is 1-9 against C.H. Yoe since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rockdale Tigers will look to defend their home field against the C.H. Yoe Yoemen at 6:00 p.m. The last seven games Rockdale has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

It was a proper cat-fight when Rockdale challenged Elgin last Friday. Rockdale fell just short of Elgin by a score of 6-4.

Izabella Delgadillo and Daniela Bocanegra stepped up to the plate in a big way. Delgadillo went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Bocanegra scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Delgadillo is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Presley McQuinn also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Even though they lost, Rockdale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for C.H. Yoe's offense. They came up short against Lexington on Friday, falling 13-0. The Yoemen have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meetings.

C.H. Yoe's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Rockdale, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5-1.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rockdale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .375. However, it's not like C.H. Yoe struggles in that department as they've averaged .411. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Rockdale might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from C.H. Yoe when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Rockdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
