Baseball Recap: Tupelo Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Tupelo extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping them up to 3-0. Everything went their way against the Houston Hilltoppers as they made off with a 16-6 victory. The Golden Wave have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hilltoppers, too.

Mack Hardin looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

Tupelo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .522. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.

As for Houston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly ten runs.

On Houston's side, JT Shaw was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, Griffin Moss led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Box, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Coming up, Tupelo will challenge South Panola at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Houston, they will face off against Water Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.75 runs per game on average), something the Hilltoppers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
