Baseball Recap: Webster Groves Comes Up Short

Webster Groves extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 7-19. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Dominic Crusaders. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, with their most recent loss being a 1-0 defeat back in March.

As for St. Dominic, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

For St. Dominic's part, the team relied heavily on Chase Hoff, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Czerniewski, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

Coming up, Webster Groves will face off against Howell at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Dominic, they will take on St. Charles West at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
