Basketball Recap: Summit Charter Academy Find Success

Summit Charter Academy's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They skirted past the Rosman Tigers 51-48. While the Bears didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Derick Friend, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Friend is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least 11 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Newman, who posted seven points in addition to five assists and five rebounds.

Summit Charter Academy's victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-1. As for Rosman, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Summit Charter Academy has already played their next matchup (against Hayesville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Rosman, they will square off against Highlands at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
