Soccer Recap: Anna-Jonesboro Comes Up Short

If Anna-Jonesboro was feeling good fresh off their 7-0 takedown of Pinckneyville on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell 4-2 to the Massac County Patriots on Monday. Anna-Jonesboro were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Massac County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2015.

Christian Thompson and Logan Pearl scored both of Anna-Jonesboro's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Anna-Jonesboro's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Massac County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-0-1.

Coming up, Anna-Jonesboro is taking a road trip to take on Marion at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Massac County, they will welcome Vienna/Goreville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Massac County will be up against Vienna/Goreville's rather soft defense (which has allowed 2.6 goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
