Basketball Recap: Maricopa Skates Past Alpaugh with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maricopa). They blew past the Alpaugh Buffalos 60-28 on Tuesday. While the Indians didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Maricopa's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joseph O'Dell, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 20 points in addition to five assists and four steals. O'Dell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Stroud, who went 9 for 20 on his way to 22 points and three steals.

Maricopa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Maricopa's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Alpaugh, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Maricopa will be playing in front of their home fans against Valley Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Alpaugh, they will venture away from home to square off against Avenal at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alpaugh is facing Avenal at the right time seeing as Avenal is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
