Softball Game Preview: Immaculata Spartans vs. Hunterdon Central Red Devils

The Immaculata Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Hunterdon Central Red Devils at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Sunday, Immaculata came up short against Johnson and fell 5-1. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Immaculata saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caroline Duffey, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Hunterdon Central sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Randolph on Monday.

Jess Yip spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

Immaculata's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Hunterdon Central, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.

Hunterdon Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Immaculata has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Hunterdon Central, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Immaculata keep running through batters, or will the Red Devils buck the trend?

Immaculata came out on top in a nail-biter against Hunterdon Central in their previous meeting on April 9th, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
