Baseball Game Preview: Shawnee Braves vs. Triad Cardinals

The Shawnee Braves will square off against the Triad Cardinals at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Shawnee is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Cedarville.

Shawnee saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Bowen, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Triad duked it out with Emmanuel Christian Academy on Friday. Triad narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Emmanuel Christian Academy 3-1.

Wyatt Smith was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-1. Another player making a difference was Colton Thomas, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Triad always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Emmanuel Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .136.

Shawnee was able to grind out a solid win over Triad in their previous meeting back in March of 2021, winning 4-0. Will Shawnee repeat their success, or does Triad has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
