Basketball Recap: Kelby Pohlman Key Part of a Team Effort in Mustangs Win

Stanton's tournament run continued when they took on Tri County Northeast on Saturday. The Stanton Mustangs wrapped up 2024 with a 51-32 victory over the Tri County Northeast Wolfpack. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Stanton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kelby Pohlman, who posted eight points along with 11 rebounds and five steals. Those 11 boards gave Pohlman a new career-high. Olivia Hupp was another key player, putting up 15 points and four steals.

Stanton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Stanton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Tri County Northeast, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stanton will venture away from home to face off against Wisner-Pilger at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Tri County Northeast, they will head out to challenge Cornerstone Christian School at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
