Volleyball Recap: Rockwell Comes Up Short

Rockwell lost against Vanguard Academy on September 4th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Marshals fell just short of the Knights by a score of 3-2.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Rockwell sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 22-25, 25-18, 22-25, 17-15.

Their offense was headlined by Kyra Lundgreen and Yasmin Morsey, who picked up six kills apiece. They were helped by Gwen Smith and Hope Lane, who contributed ten assists each. Morsey was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Rockwell has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Vanguard Academy, they moved to 5-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-match losing streak.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Rockwell will challenge rival Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Vanguard Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Merit Preparatory Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
