Baseball Game Preview: Douglass Mighty Ducks vs. Poly Engineers

The Douglass Mighty Ducks will take on the Poly Engineers at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Monday, Douglass beat Forest Park 16-11. The victory continues a trend for the Mighty Ducks in their matchups with the Foresters: they've now won six in a row.

Wilmer Rivero made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). Rivero was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Douglass got a massive performance out of Kevin Roche-Ramos, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four stolen bases, and four runs. The dominant performance also gave Roche-Ramos a new career-high in doubles (three). Luis Gonzales was another key player, going 2-for-3 with six stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Meanwhile, Poly never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on Carver Vo-Tech with a sharp 17-0 win. The Engineers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by 11 runs or more this season.

Douglass' victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Poly, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Douglass skirted past Poly 10-9 in their previous matchup back in May of 2017. Do the Mighty Ducks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Engineers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
