Baseball Recap: East Duplin Comes Up Short

East Duplin lost against South Lenoir back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Panthers fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 6-5.

Kyle Kern was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, East Duplin saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Holmes, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

East Duplin's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for South Lenoir, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Duplin will face off against North Duplin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Lenoir, they will take on Southwest Onslow at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
