The Southwest Eagles are taking a road trip to face off against the Coral Reef Barracudas at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southwest will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, Southwest was able to grind out a solid victory over Miami Beach, taking the game 5-1.
Lionel Lee looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dylan Duarte, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Coral Reef, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) 8-2 on Wednesday.
Alex Boix looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, William Vega was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Cabrera, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Southwest's record is now 12-6. As for Coral Reef, their record now sits at 5-16-1.
Coral Reef's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Southwest hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. It's a different story for Coral Reef, though, as they've only averaged .184. Will they be able to contain Southwest's hitters?
Southwest got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Coral Reef by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Barracudas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
