Basketball Recap: Five Straight Road Wins for Assumption

Assumption won the last time they faced Central and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Assumption Rockets enjoyed a cozy 64-47 win over the Central Yellow Jackets. Given the Rockets' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked ninth, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 68th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Assumption got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ashlinn James out in front who posted 15 points in addition to five assists and five steals. James is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ava Moore, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Assumption pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

When Assumption and Central next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Assumption will try to stop Sacred Heart's three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Meanwhile, Central will challenge Frederick Douglass and their three-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
