Baseball Game Preview: Marshalltown Bobcats vs. Ottumwa Bulldogs

The Marshalltown Bobcats will face off against the Ottumwa Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing isn't great for Marshalltown: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Ottumwa has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road.

On Monday, Marshalltown didn't have quite enough to beat Lincoln and fell 4-3.

22 must be Ottumwa's lucky number: they beat Des Moines North with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Polar Bears with a sharp 22-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ottumwa's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Marshalltown, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.

Marshalltown might still be hurting after the 18-0 loss they got from Ottumwa in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
