Volleyball Recap: Lutheran's Undefeated Season over After Five Games

If Lutheran was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Niwot on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions came up short against the Eaton Reds on Saturday, falling 3-0. The Lions have struggled against the Reds recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Lutheran was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-14, 25-22.

Gabriella Speckman paced Lutheran's offense, picking up nine kills. Speckman got some help from Kate Wilson and her 12 assists.

Among those leading the charge was Katie St Jean, who had nine digs and one assist. Those nine digs gave her a new career-high.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lutheran fell to 4-1. As for Eaton, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Lutheran and Eaton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. The Lions will face off against Grandview at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (16 vs. 70). Meanwhile, Eaton (ranked seventh) will meet Frontier Academy (ranked 62nd) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
