Tuesday just wasn't the day for Sequoyah's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to Loudon, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, Polk County hadn't done well against Greenback recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wildcats blew past the Cherokees 11-1. Polk County's win was all the more impressive since the Cherokees were averaging only 3.64 runs allowed on the season.
Justin Green was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Green was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Tucker Lanning was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Zanten Branham, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Sequoyah's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Polk County, their record now sits at 4-8.
Sequoyah beat Polk County 3-0 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chiefs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
