Preview: Granite Hills Eagles vs. Carlsbad Lancers
After each having a week off, The Granite Hills Eagles and the Carlsbad Lancers will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on November 9th. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Granite Hills comes in on 19 and Carlsbad on ten.
Granite Hills put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They blew past Grossmont 44-22. 44 seems to be a good number for Granite Hills as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Granite Hills' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Max Turner, who rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Josh Zander also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Carlsbad put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 31-3 win over El Camino at home. Carlsbad pushed the score to 24-3 by the end of the third, a deficit El Camino had little chance of recovering from.
Mason Walsh continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 188 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Walsh is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Julian Sayin, who threw for 196 yards and a touchdown on only 17 passes.
Granite Hills' victory was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 10-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.6 points per game. As for Carlsbad, their win bumped their record up to 10-0.
Granite Hills was taken down by Carlsbad 63-14 in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Thankfully for Granite Hills, Aidan Sayin (who threw for 285 yards and five touchdowns while completing 81.3% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
