Basketball Game Preview: St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish vs. Avon Lake Shoremen

The St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish will square off against the Avon Lake Shoremen at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as St. Vincent-St. Mary comes in on four and Avon Lake on nine.

Last Saturday, St. Vincent-St. Mary got the win against Austintown-Fitch by a conclusive 58-33. The Fighting Irish have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Avon Lake made off with a 38-37 win over Magnificat.

St. Vincent-St. Mary's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33 points. As for Avon Lake, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.

St. Vincent-St. Mary didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Avon Lake when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 39-33 victory.
