Soccer Game Preview: Cinco Ranch vs. Tompkins

The Cinco Ranch Cougars will face off against the Tompkins Falcons at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

It was a proper cat-fight when Cinco Ranch duked it out with Paetow on Tuesday. Cinco Ranch walked away with a 4-2 win over Paetow. It was an even better day for Andres Riera as he scored three goals for his team.

Meanwhile, Tompkins' game on Tuesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They put the hurt on Morton Ranch with a sharp 4-1 victory. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 167th in Texas, while the Mavericks are ranked 487th in Texas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cinco Ranch's record is now 8-6. As for Tompkins, their record is now 9-6.

Cinco Ranch was able to grind out a solid win over Tompkins in their previous meeting back in January, winning 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cinco Ranch since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
