Softball Game Preview: La Grande Tigers vs. Pendleton Buckaroos

The La Grande Tigers will head out to take on the Pendleton Buckaroos at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. La Grande is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

La Grande came out on top against Ontario on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run third inning. La Grande blew past Ontario 16-1. Considering La Grande has won ten contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Peyton Daggett and Joselynn Dodds did most of the damage at the plate: Daggett went 1-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Dodds got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Dodds a new career-high. Paige Allen was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

La Grande always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ontario only posted an OBP of .182.

Meanwhile, Pendleton fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Scappoose on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 6-5. The loss was the Buckaroos' first of the season.

La Grande pushed their record up to 14-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pendleton, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-1.

La Grande might still be hurting after the 13-6 loss they got from Pendleton when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
