Baseball Recap: Fort Chiswell Triumphs

With a playoff win on the line, Fort Chiswell rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Eastside Spartans by a score of 9-5.

Parker Moore made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Moore was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Mac Phillips was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Spencer Moser was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run.

Fort Chiswell is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 17-5 record this season. As for Eastside, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-6-1.

Coming up, Fort Chiswell will challenge Northumberland at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The Indians' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Pioneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Eastside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
