Baseball Recap: Hudson Takes a Loss

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Hudson was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cypress Creek Coyotes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Coyotes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-1 last Tuesday.

Caden Gillespie was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Hudson is 3-1 when Gillespie posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-9 otherwise. Aiden Pace was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Hudson's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Cypress Creek, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hudson will venture away from home to challenge Gulf at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hudson is facing Gulf at the right time seeing as Gulf is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Cypress Creek, they will face off against Sunlake at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Cypress Creek 3.8, Sunlake 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
