Baseball Recap: Lakeland Christian Finds Home Field Redemption Against Victory Christian Academy

Lakeland Christian's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to McKeel Academy on Friday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Victory Christian Academy Storm with a sharp 13-3 win. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Storm recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Nathan Diaz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Alex Arthur looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Peyton Brenneman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooks Blankenship, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.

Lakeland Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
