Baseball Recap: Nyack's Win Ends 11-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Nyack's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Albertus Magnus Falcons as they made off with a 16-6 victory. The Red Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Brandon Salemo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Devin Bierfeldt and Maxwell Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Bierfeldt went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Martinez went 2-for-6 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three runs gave Bierfeldt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Cantor, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Nyack was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Albertus Magnus only posted a batting average of .250.

Nyack's win ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-7. As for Albertus Magnus, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Nyack does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Albertus Magnus, they will face off against Ardsley at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
