Recap: Verdugo Hills vs. Stella High Charter Academy
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Verdugo Hills Dons had no problem doing just that on Friday. They never let the Eagles onto the board and left with a 3-0 win. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Verdugo Hills has managed all season.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Diego Herrera and
Gerardo Ramirez, who scored all three of Verdugo Hills' goals. The pair have combined for a total of 12 so far this season.
The win got Verdugo Hills back to even at 8-8-6. As for Stella High Charter Academy, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-13-1.
Verdugo Hills will look to defend their home pitch on Wednesday against Stern at 3:00 p.m. Verdugo Hills will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 819th, while Stern is ranked 159th). Stella High Charter Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
