Baseball Recap: Western Guilford Takes a Loss

Western Guilford had lost seven straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-16 to make it eight. They lost 10-0 to the Northern Guilford Nighthawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Nighthawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 two weeks ago.

As for Northern Guilford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

For Northern Guilford's part, the result came thanks to Yancey Burleson's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jorge Torres, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Nathanael Lorczak was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Western Guilford wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-0 loss against Ragsdale on the 22nd. As for Northern Guilford, they have also already played their next matchup, a 4-3 defeat against Grimsley on the 22nd.
