Baseball Recap: Wells Takes a Loss

Wells extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They lost 26-3 to the Johnsburg Central Jaguars. If the Wells CSD were looking for revenge after losing 18-3 to the Jaguars when the teams met back in April of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Johnsburg Central, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

For Johnsburg Central's part, they got a massive performance out of Jeremiah Freebern, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Mason Englert also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Johnsburg Central has already played their next contest (against Crown Point), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Wells will be paying especially close attention to the Jaguars' game: after the Jaguars face off against Schroon Lake, they'll take on Wells again at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
