Preview: Choctaw County Tigers vs. Southern Choctaw Indians
Choctaw County is 9-1 against Southern Choctaw since January of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Choctaw County Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Southern Choctaw Indians at 6:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Choctaw County has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Southern Choctaw will arrive with three straight victories.
Last Tuesday, Choctaw County came up short against Johnson and fell 35-26. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Choctaw County in their matchups with Johnson: they've now lost seven in a row.
Even though Southern Choctaw has not done well against Linden recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Southern Choctaw put the hurt on Linden with a sharp 56-33 win. That's two games straight that Southern Choctaw has won by exactly 23 points.
Marcionna Young was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points. The matchup was her third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Madison Hill, who scored 6 points along with 8 assists and 7 rebounds.
Thomasville's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Choctaw County's defeat dropped theirs to 0-3.
Choctaw County skirted past Southern Choctaw 49-47 in their previous meeting back in January. Will Choctaw County repeat their success, or does Southern Choctaw have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
