Preview: Alhambra Bulldogs vs. Acalanes Dons

Alhambra has been on the road for three straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Acalanes Dons at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Alhambra pushed their score all the way to 56 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 89-56 loss at the hands of Ygnacio Valley. While losing is never fun, Alhambra can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while Ygnacio Valley is ranked 150th).

Geo Alber put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Gillaspy, who scored 15 points.

Meanwhile, Acalanes' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 67-51 to Benicia.

Liam Krackeler put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 14 points along with eight rebounds. Brady Quinn was another key contributor, scoring ten points.

Alhambra bumped their record down to 9-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Acalanes, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's match: Alhambra have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6.9 threes per game. It's a different story for Acalanes, though, as they've been averaging only 5.9 threes per game. Given Alhambra's sizeable advantage in that area, Acalanes will need to find a way to close that gap.

Alhambra strolled past Acalanes in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 by a score of 54-38. Will Alhambra repeat their success, or does Acalanes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
