AAAAA Region 2 recap Oct. 16, 2012
Warner Robins was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Greenbrier. The Demons came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.
Northside extended the longest winning streak in AAAAA Region 2 this week by beating Grovetown, 56-14. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Eagles.
The Wolfpack's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Luke Otstot threw for 54 and one touchdown and Gregory Wilson had 34 yards receiving. On the ground Jeremy Harden chipped in 51 yards. Clint Hardy helped Greenbrier's passing attack out by catching two balls for 34 yards.
Jonquell Jones made the biggest impact on defense this week as Evans lost to Jones County. The junior recorded one fumble.
Houston County's Taylor Boyett and Myles White have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Boyett has thrown for 387 yards this season, while White has 10 catches for 173 yards. Greenbrier's Harden leads the league in rushing yards with 458.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Greyhounds take on Northside. At the moment, Jones County is in third, while Kevin Kinsler's team is in first.
Lakeside was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fourth in AAAAA Region 2. The Panthers beat the Bears 37-35 earlier in the week.
