Recap: Jackson Vikings vs. Chelsea Bulldogs
If the Jackson Vikings were feeling good off their 79-55 takedown of the Pinckney Pirates last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Jackson fell 63-50 to Chelsea on Friday. While losing is never fun, Jackson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Chelsea is ranked 33rd).
Jackson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darrion Weller, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Cyron Stamper, who scored nine points.
Jackson's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Chelsea, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jackson has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Adrian at 7:00 p.m. on February 12th. Adrian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 16 matches -- so hopefully Jackson likes a good challenge. As for Chelsea, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tecumseh at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chelsea knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully Tecumseh likes a good challenge.
