Basketball Recap: Phillips Finds Playoff Glory Versus King

It's playoff time, and Phillips had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the King Jaguars with a sharp 61-35 win on Thursday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while the Jaguars are ranked 338th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nila Wills had a dynamite game for Phillips, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 28 boards. The dominant performance gave Wills a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamaria Sephus, who posted 15 points in addition to eight boards and four steals.

Phillips pushed their record up to 23-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points over those games. As for King, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.

As of now, neither Phillips nor King have any future games scheduled.
