Preview: Tom Bean Tomcats vs. Honey Grove Warriors
The Tom Bean Tomcats will be playing at home against the Honey Grove Warriors at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Tom Bean has not done well against Wolfe City recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Tom Bean walked away with a 43-36 victory over Wolfe City. The win made it back-to-back wins for Tom Bean.
Branson Ashlock continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Maguire Poole, who scored six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, in a tight match that could have gone either way, Honey Grove made off with a 50-49 win over Sam Rayburn.
Tom Bean has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. As for Honey Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 18-4.
Things could have been worse for Tom Bean, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-37 loss to Honey Grove in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Tom Bean avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
