Softball Recap: Fishers Takes a Loss

Franklin Central hit Fishers with a eight-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers fell 16-11 to the Flashes. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Flashes: they've now lost five in a row.

Kennedy Shockley and Adrianne Cook did some serious damage despite the final result: Shockley went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Cook went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Azstryd Alexander, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Fishers' loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Franklin Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season.

Fishers will head out to face off against Brownsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Franklin Central, they will face off against Hamilton Southeastern at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Royals' pitching crew has only allowed 1.9 runs per game this season, so the Flashes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
