Basketball Game Preview: Lincoln Golden Bears vs. Jacksonville Golden Eagles

The Lincoln Golden Bears will face off against the Jacksonville Golden Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Lincoln came up short against Cedar Bluff and fell 65-54.

Meanwhile, Jacksonville won against Pell City last Thursday with 65 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Jacksonville breezed by St. Clair County to the tune of 65-16. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Lincoln better focus on containing Neveah Nicholson and Ontarriah Braxton as the pair were huge in Jacksonville's win. Nicholson went 7 for 11 on her way to 16 points along with six boards and four steals, while Braxton made all 7 shots she took for 16 points and three steals. That's the most steals Nicholson has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexis Phillips, who posted eight points and three steals.

The victory was the third in a row for Jacksonville, bringing their record for this year to 17-6. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points per game. As for Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-9.

Lincoln took a serious blow against Jacksonville in their previous matchup last Tuesday, falling 60-30. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Phillips, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine steals.
