Jake LaCrosse posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Thursday. He struck out 17 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk), good enough for us to rate the performance as the best he's had all season long. He has become a key player for Lyons: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least ten strikeouts, but 3-5 otherwise.

Looking ahead, LaCrosse and Lyons will head out on the road to take on Byers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lions got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Bulldogs thanks in part to LaCrosse: he went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
