Baseball Game Preview: Chalker Wildcats vs. McDonald Blue Devils

The Chalker Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the McDonald Blue Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Chalker has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Chalker and Badger had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Wildcats came out on top in a nail-biter against the Braves on Thursday, sneaking past 25-23. The Wildcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Logan Smallsreed and Zach Pack did most of the damage at the plate: Smallsreed got on base in six of his seven plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and seven runs, while Pack went a perfect 7-for-7 with three stolen bases, five runs, and five RBI. The dominant performance also gave Smallsreed a new career-high in doubles (two). Bobby Prowitt was another key player, going 4-for-6 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Chalker always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, McDonald made easy work of Lowellville on Tuesday and carried off an 11-1 victory. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

McDonald is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Chalker, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
