Basketball Game Preview: Del Norte Nighthawks vs. El Camino Wildcats

The Del Norte Nighthawks will challenge the El Camino Wildcats at 12:35 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Del Norte easily dispatched Fallbrook on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Nighthawks fell just short of Olympian by a score of 60-57 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Nighthawks have suffered since December 27, 2024.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Oliver Cooper, who went 7-for-9 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds. Riley Farrokhi was another key player, shooting 71% from the field to rack up 12 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Meanwhile, El Camino had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a blow against Torrey Pines, falling 83-41. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-19.

Del Norte strolled past El Camino in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a score of 78-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Nighthawks since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
