Basketball Game Preview: Brevard Blue Devils vs. R-S Central Hilltoppers

The Brevard Blue Devils will face off against the R-S Central Hilltoppers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Brevard is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Brevard took a blow against Polk County, falling 65-25. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 467th, while the Wolverines are ranked 78th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask R-S Central). They blew past Chase 52-26 on Friday. The Hilltoppers haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

R-S Central's win came from a few key players Brevard will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Lai Flack, who posted 20 points. That makes it 21 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of R-S Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Liliana Lopez, who earned 15 points.

R-S Central's victory bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Brevard, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-16.

Brevard didn't have too much breathing room in their game against R-S Central in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 41-36 win. Will Brevard repeat their success, or does R-S Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
