Basketball Recap: Terrance Evans Key Part of a Team Effort in Pirates Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sierra Grande, Cotopaxi was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 54-40 win over the Miami-Yoder Buffaloes.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cotopaxi to victory, but perhaps none more so than Terrance Evans, who went 11 of 24 on his way to 26 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Joel Tezak, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

When it comes to explaining why Miami-Yoder lost, don't look at Gavin Howard. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points and six rebounds. Howard is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Bernhart, who earned nine points.

Cotopaxi is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Miami-Yoder, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Cotopaxi will be playing at home against Lake City Community at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Miami-Yoder, they will challenge Cripple Creek-Victor at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
