Softball Recap: Douglas Comes Up Short

Douglas extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-9. They lost 10-0 to the South Umpqua Lancers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 4-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for South Umpqua, the win was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games.

For South Umpqua's part, Jasmine Morales made a big impact no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. Morales has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two hits in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with four RBI and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, South Umpqua got a big performance out of Danika Richardson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. Richardson has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Khylen Murphy also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

South Umpqua has already played their next game (against Riddle), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Douglas will be paying especially close attention to the Lancers' matchup: after the Lancers face off against the Irish, they'll take on Douglas again at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
