Baseball Game Preview: St. Andrew's Highlanders vs. Regents Knights

The St. Andrew's Highlanders will take on the Regents Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

St. Andrew's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over St. Stephen's Episcopal. The Highlanders haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Regents entered their tilt with Bishop Dunne on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Falcons. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Blake Mott was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. He has become a key player for Regents: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Robb, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Regents was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Regents pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Andrew's, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.

St. Andrew's couldn't quite get it done against Regents in their previous meeting back in March of 2019 as they fell 6-2. Can the Highlanders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
