Basketball Recap: Manokotak Extends Winning Streak to 17

Manokotak had already won 16 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.4 points) and they went ahead and made it 17 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Sand Point Eagles/Lady Eagles 56-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lynx have posted since January 25th.

Manokotak's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jethron Nanalook, who posted 18 points. Nanalook is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Gloko, who earned 15 points.

Manokotak's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. As for Sand Point, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-5 record.

Manokotak does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sand Point, they will square off against King Cove at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
