Football Recap: La Serna Falls to Rancho Bernardo in First Game of Season

La Serna kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Rancho Bernardo Broncos by a score of 15-13. Despite 75 more yards than the Broncos, the Lancers couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Although La Serna took the loss, they still got scores from Zeb Bontemps and Brennan Meyring.

Among those leading the charge was Gaige Weddle, who threw for 151 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 35 yards. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making six total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Serna will venture away from home to take on Schurr at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rancho Bernardo, they will head out to square off against Brawley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
