Basketball Game Preview: Vermillion Tanagers vs. Dakota Valley Panthers

Vermillion is on a 14-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Dakota Valley is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Vermillion Tanagers will welcome the Dakota Valley Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Vermillion escaped with a win against Sisseton by the margin of a single free throw, 47-46. The win continues a trend for the Tanagers in their matchups with the Redmen: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Dakota Valley faced Hamlin in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Dakota Valley walked away with a 63-55 victory over Hamlin.

Vermillion's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Dakota Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.

Vermillion was able to grind out a solid win over Dakota Valley in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 69-56. Will Vermillion repeat their success, or does Dakota Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
