Softball Game Preview: Regis Ramblers vs. McDonell Central Macks

Regis is 0-10 against McDonell Central since April of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Ramblers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Macks at 5:00 p.m. Regis has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

While Regis is heading in to the game without a win, things might be looking up considering their last contest was the closest they've come to getting one. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of Cadott. On the bright side, the ten- run performance marked the Ramblers' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Bella Borton and Maddy Payne did some serious damage despite the final result: Borton went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Payne went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those RBI were Borton's first of the season.

Meanwhile, McDonell Central hadn't done well against Fall Creek recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Macks came out on top against the Crickets by a score of 6-1. The game was the first time the Macks have beaten the Crickets on their field since May 3, 2019.

McDonell Central's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Regis, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
