Football Recap: Basic Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Southeast Career Tech

On Friday, Basic faced Southeast Career Tech in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Basic Wolves and the Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners were almost perfectly matched up, but the Basic Wolves suffered a 13-12 loss. Having soared to a lofty 57 points in the game before, the Wolves couldn't push the score so high this time.

Although Basic took the loss, they still got scores from Jasmyne Johnson and NATALEE RAMOS.

Even if they lost, Basic's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. MAKAYLA MOORE was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two herself. She is becoming a predictor of Basic's success: when she posts at least one sack the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when she doesn't).

Nyelle Parker was the offensive standout of the match as she rushed for 51 yards, and also caught one touchdown. She also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making three total tackles and defending one pass.

Basic's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Southeast Career Tech, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-7 record.
