Baseball Game Preview: Frankfort Falcons vs. Bridgeport Indians

Frankfort is 0-3 against Bridgeport since May of 2016 but things could change on Saturday. The Falcons will challenge the Indians at 10:00 a.m. Frankfort is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.

Frankfort is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Robert C. Byrd, who was ranked 20th at the time (Frankfort was ranked 16th). The Falcons came up short against the Eagles on Friday, falling 6-0. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Falcons' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Frankfort got a good showing from Jaxon Hare, who didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over four innings pitched. Hare has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Frankfort saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Jacobs, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Bridgeport's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jefferson.

Frankfort's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Bridgeport, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Frankfort couldn't quite get it done against Bridgeport in their previous matchup back in June of 2019 as they fell 5-2. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
